An implant replaces the root of a missing tooth with a small titanium post, topped with a crown that looks and works like a natural tooth. Done well, it lasts decades. Done cheaply, it can fail within a few years and cost more to fix than it did to place.
The three parts of every implant price
Every implant quote covers three things, whether the clinic lists them or not:
- The implant post. Established brands with long clinical records cost more than unbranded imports. The brand also decides whether spare parts will exist in ten years.
- The abutment and crown. The connector and the visible tooth. Porcelain or zirconia crowns matched to your shade cost more than standard ones.
- Planning and surgery. A 3D scan shows bone depth and nerve position before anything is drilled. Skipping it saves money and adds risk.
Why the cheapest quote is often the most expensive
Low quotes usually leave something out: the crown, the scan, bone grafting if you need it, or follow-up visits. Ask for a written, itemised quote that covers everything from consultation to final crown. If a clinic won't put it in writing, treat that as your answer.
At Kim & Crest, implant treatment starts with an implant consultation, where we assess your bone and gums and explain the full cost before anything begins.
What affects your own price
- Bone volume. If a tooth has been missing for years, the bone may need grafting first.
- Position in the mouth. Front teeth need more careful aesthetics. Back teeth need stronger crowns.
- Number of teeth. Several missing teeth can sometimes be replaced with fewer implants supporting a bridge.
Questions to ask any clinic
- Which implant brand do you use, and how long has it been on the market?
- Is a 3D scan included in the quote?
- Does the price include the crown and all follow-up visits?
- What guarantee do you give, and what does it cover?
The right answers matter more than the lowest number. A well-placed implant is a one-time cost. A failed one is two.
